Erick Erickson is a delusional nitwit.
But John Boehner, Eric Cantor, Mitch McConnell, and John Cornyn will ensure that Obamacare is fully funded and give the American public no delay like businesses have.
In doing so, they will sow the seeds of a real third party movement that will fully divide the Republican Party.
He thinks that the public deserves the same delay of Obamacare that businesses got. That's right, Tea Party Populism asserts that giving people access to affordable health insurance is not fair... It's not fair to them. The people with no insurance now. Giving them affordable insurance is not fair. Bizarre.
Anyway, Erickson thinks that if they cave on this issue, GOP leadership will create a rift with Tea Folk that will lead to a third party.
I agree.
The GOP is on course to break into multiple pieces. In the transition period that follows there might be a presidential election with two candidates hailing from the current GOP coalition. The Democrats will be united behind one candidate. No need to explain how well that will work.
Eventually, our future two-party system will include none of the GOP pieces. Instead, the reality-based community will quickly tire of one-party rule (historically, it's always bad). At most it will take two election cycles for the Democratic coalition to split in two.
In the meantime, fasten your seatbelts (especially you, poor people), it's gonna be a bumpy ride.
