Trump? Police murder in the news? A lack of interest in invading the Middle East? Iran might be good and Saudi Arabia is certainly bad?
Has the world gone crazy?
Part of what's fueling rapid change is the increasing irrelevance of 20th Century media.
There will be no such thing as "network" news in 5 years. In 10 years the entire category of cable news consumers will be dead.
Somebody is going to succeed in pointing out that the NYT, WaPo and WSJ news desks are literally 95% white male. They may or may not survive.
Will we be left w/ no news? On the contrary, it's the last 50 years that have been limited to white male college educated voices.
There is (again, literally) a Negro League of journalism ready to take a place in the major leagues of news. The rest will be excitingly unpredictable, but certainly better.
Just look at the area where old news died first: world affairs. We now have better information about Ukraine, Syrian refugees, and Saudi Arabia than we ever had with the expensive foreign bureaus that the 20th Century press still claims we can't live without.
