People complain that politicians sell themselves to big money. But politicians don't care about money; it's only a means to an end.
The people who care about money are the advocacy groups and assorted hangers-on. The NRA pays a large staff a lot of money. That staff is against all sensible laws because that is the stand that brings in donations and pays their salaries. If a more moderate stance might help hunters--maybe trigger locks in exchange for hunting on public lands--the staffers at the NRA wouldn't give a shit: moderate hunters don't send donations.
Today's example is pollsters. They could help us understand America, but that's not where the money is at. Instead we get this nonsense.
