After many listenings and discussions with fellow Bob fans I have come to the following conclusion:
The release Another Self Portrait by Bob Dylan packs an emotional punch that is rarely achieved in art of any kind. It is weighted with nostalgia, regret, and the terrified hope of a dog that's been beat too much sniffing the food in his owner's hands. The punch builds from the first note, with the full force expressed about two-thirds of the way through Track 13, "This Evening So Soon", a song that didn't make it onto the original Self Portrait.
